About us

Howdy Folks!   🐝

My name is John Hill, President and founder of HillCo, LLC. Whether you’re visiting our website for the first time, or a long-time customer, THANK YOU for being here!

A little bit about our background: I got my start in beekeeping at age 16, when I caught my first swarm. From that point on, I’ve had a passion for bees and all things beekeeping. As I built up my numbers of hives to pursue a goal of full-time beekeeping, I was frustrated by the lack of options and the high cost of beekeeping equipment. Eventually I began to make my own beehive components to save cost, and then started offering some of those products to local beekeepers. I also started sourcing honey processing equipment for myself and others in my area.

50+Years of Beekeeping
Experience

From Those Humble Beginnings,
HillCo Was Born!

As word got out about our products and quality customer service, we expanded rapidly. We began to add employees, purchase and build larger facilities, expanded our website, developed more products, the list goes on. It was (and continues to be) an exciting time!

Fast forwarding to today, we are now one of the largest beekeeping supply companies in North America, and continuing to grow each year. I attribute our success to several factors:

  • God: I give Him the glory and praise for giving me talents, energy, and resources to get this off the ground and moving forward! The Lord has sustained us through thick and thin, and I can’t be thankful enough for what He has done in my life!
  • My Family: My wife Marissa, and our children Lewis, Walter, Hannah, and Leonard, have helped and supported me all the way.

I will always cherish the memories from the early days (just a few short years ago), when Marissa would get the kids to bed and then join me back in the shop to cut lumber, fill orders, etc until the wee hours of the morning. Even today, we’re still up ridiculously late getting our work
done sometimes!

The kids have also been amazing helpers and supporters, even at very young ages. It’s been wonderful to see them learn and grow through the many experiences over the years.

My father-in-law Curt has also been a huge help in so many ways, especially in development and support of our various electrical components. I don’t know where we’d be without him!

  • Our Amazing Team: If you’re gonna succeed in business, you have to hire the right team! And boy, do we have a top-notch group. I’m ever so thankful for the work and zeal that they put in, day in and day out, to support our customers in so many ways!
  • You!: Last but certainly not least, I am SO GRATEFUL for each of our customers. Some of you have been with me since the very beginning, and have spread the word about us to your fellow beekeepers in so many ways. Even when we’ve occasionally fallen short of our goals to provide great products and fabulous customer service, you stick by us and come back again and again. Thank you!!

Like any business, we are here to make a living and feed our families, I’m not going to pretend otherwise. However, I can honestly say that what motivates us most is this: a passion to develop and offer quality products, at an affordable price, backed by amazing customer service.

Again, thanks for visiting our website. Our team is looking forward to serving you!

John Hill, President
50+Years of
Beekeeping Experience

The Team behind HillCo brings decades of combined hands-on experience with bees and beekeeping equipment.

Our background spans manufacturing, lumber, agriculture, sales, marketing, and product innovation. We know how equipment is built, how it performs in production environments, and where most suppliers cut corners. That background shapes every buying decision we make and every product standard we hold.

We are also innovators. We do not just resell what is already out there. We look at how equipment performs in real-world use and work to make it better for the beekeeper. The result is a catalog that skews toward equipment that is more durable, more efficient, and easier to work with than what most suppliers offer.

Since 2019, we have quickly become a leader in honey extractors and honey house equipment, a category where the stakes for quality are high and beekeepers notice the difference.

The people behind HillCo come from different fields, but they share the same commitment to doing the work right.

Three Things Drive Everything We Do At

01.

GREAT
PRODUCTS

We carry equipment that performs. Our specialty in stainless and honey house equipment means we have gone deeper in these categories than most suppliers.

02.

GREAT
PRICES

We do not inflate margins to fund a flashy operation. We price fairly because beekeepers who trust us deserve that.

03.

BEST SERVICE
AND WARRANTY

This is not a tagline. It is the standard we hold ourselves to every day. If something is not right, we fix it. Our warranty backs that up.

We are glad you're here.
