Got about two gallons of honey from eight medium frames. The free-wheeling and brake feature is great. Like the ease of clean up and the sloping tank floor.
1. *Near miss accident* The one half polycarbonate lid that was not hinged onto the extractor, did not fit properly into place. I had to hold it in place with my free hand as I was spinning. It got loose as the extractor wobbled, and went down into the spinner, then shot out across my kitchen. Fortunately, no one was injured and my hand did not contact the spinning mechanism.
This really needs an engineered fix.
I used blue painters tape to hold the lid in place.
2. The wobbling was a real problem for me, as I was extracting in my kitchen.
So, bolting to the floor is not an option. I had it mounted on a thin wood frame that was not adequate. I plan to construct another base from 4x4's and deck screw the extractor to it.
It would be helpful to have plans for a portable base that would work and minimize the wobbling.
